Critic Reviews for Reaching For Petals
A beautiful mystery, with gorgeous visuals and a sublimely moving soundtrack.
Reaching for Petals does a good job at grabbing your attention from the very start with a narrator that sounds like honey trickling over gravel…
Ultimately, because of Reaching for Petals' short running time, it feels more like a tech demo than an actual, fully-formed video game experience.
Reaching for Petals is lovely, but there are a few issues that kept it from blooming to its fullest potentials.
Reaching for Petals has an attractive story and with the perfect use of Unreal Engine 4, visually, it has become one of the best games of the year. If only the developers devoted more time to the gameplay, then we would've recommended the experience to every player.

You can get through Reaching For Petals in about an hour and a half. It has great writing, narration and a wonderful soundtrack, but it’s dragged down by its handling of character development and its memory sequences that, at least to me, felt strangely impersonal.
Reaching For Petals is a poetic adventure about love, loss, and ambition.
If you're in search of something aesthetically pleasing, I think you'll find a lot to like here. From the voice work to the visuals and especially the score, Petals' presentation shines. If you're looking for a more hard-hitting game in the same genre, however, there are certainly better options out there.
