Critic Reviews for 12 orbits
You're never going to rush home to play 12 Orbits, but at only $1.99 it's a fantastic game to keep on your Switch for the next time you've got friends over for a party. Playing with 12 people may not be optimal in portable mode with everyone crowded around the Switch (where the frenetic action is hard to follow in some game variations anyway), and it's a shame there's no online play available. Assign your Joy-Cons to a few pairs of players and let them gather around the TV, however, and the dip will likely get cold well before the fun runs out.
Its lasting appeal is very limited and I fell out of it after a while. The simple look and similarities between the different modes caused my friends to get bored quickly. I really can't see this being the creator's true intentions.
If you enjoy playing competitive local multiplayer experiences then 12 Orbits is a must-have game.
12 Orbits is another brilliant example of an indie developer who just wants to create a great experience without giving it an unnecessary facelift.
A simple concept with a very clean design makes this game a nice treat to play if you are stuck in a confined space for a period of time. The gameplay is very easy to explain to people who would not consider themselves gamers and the rules are so simple that you will have no problem playing it with children. The lack of online multiplayer prevents this game from being anything more than a travel game. Although it is a shame, for the price range this game is a worthy purchase for those who travel frequently.
