Once upon a time, Jack and Jill, went up the hill, to fetch a pail of water. It didn’t particularly end well for them, and to be honest, things aren’t exactly great for another Jack and Jill either. In Jack N’ Jill DX, players must assume the role of Jack, overcoming many hazards, in a bid to reach Jill, who awaits him at the end of 140 levels, in typical old-school one-button platformer fashion! But, for the players who feel the guy should be the one who needs saving, we absolutely agree and that’s why Jill is available as a playable character as well! All you need to do, to play as her, is swap the graphics and hey presto, the change is complete! Whoever you choose to play as, as you run and jump to your friend’s rescue across 7 worlds, you will do so to the sound of a chiptune soundtrack that will transport you back to the golden age of video gaming. But the old school feels, don’t end there. With grey-scale monochrome graphics and easy to learn controls, yet addictive gameplay, it will even feel like a game straight up from the days of old, as well. Will you rise to the challenge of reuniting them? FEATURES 7 worlds made up of 20 levels each 7 in-game mini-games., where you can earn tickets for the in-game store 1 button gameplay In-game store with in-game tickets that are used for unlocking hats and screen colours Mirror Mode 2 Playable characters

As an anachronistic curio it fits well among a growing stable of small, simple experiences to take on the go. Getting it off the phone and onto dedicated game consoles lends it an air of importance that the game design doesn't always back up, but it has an endearing style and gratifying challenge enough to warrant reuniting the two oft-imperiled blobs.

Jack N' Jill DX fits in one of the simplest categories of contemporary games, that of platform runners. As such, the game is very accessible and requires only one input possible, jumping at the right moments, a job which Jack N' Jill DX doesn't always get right and some inconsistencies regarding the control input can make for some frustrating moments during gameplay but overall, this is a welcoming, fun and unpretentious game. Pity for its occasional control flaws and unpleasant soundtrack.

The character and enemy design is minimalist and charming, and I’m sure you’re going to dig this one!

Jack N' Jill DX is a fun minimalist auto-run platformer on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita that is entertaining. Trophy hunters are going to love the fact that this cross-buy game offers two separate trophy lists so that you could earn two Platinum trophies in 40-50 minutes or so. And you can tell you're having fun playing a game when you unlock the Platinum trophy and continue to play and finish another two or three worlds before you know it!
