Chrono Trigger, released in 1995, is widely considered one of the greatest RPGs of all time. The project was spearheaded by Square Enix's "dream team" of Hironobu Sakaguchi, Yuji Horii and Akira Toriyama, and spawned a successful series.
It's now been 30 years since Chrono Trigger was released, and Square Enix is planning to mark the occasion with a series of events. In a celebration post (translated by Gematsu) on social media, Square Enix teased upcoming plans for Chrono Trigger: "To mark the 30th anniversary and to express our gratitude to everyone who has played Chrono Trigger so far, we are planning a variety of projects over the next year that will go beyond the world of the game. Please look forward to the latest information."
The first celebratory event is a special stream featuring the music of Chrono Trigger, which will begin at 10 PM ET on March 14. Unfortunately for the select few fans who are eagerly awaiting another Chrono game, Square Enix is very unlikely to announce anything in that vein. Instead, the celebratory events will likely focus on the legacy of Chrono Trigger and how the game shaped modern JRPGs.
