On Twitter, Geoff Keighley has announced that gamescom has been pushed back a few days. Rather than starting on August 24th like previously planned, gamescom Opening Night will now take place on August 27th. The event will then run for three straight days. According to Keighley, gamescom 2020 will be the grand finale of the Summer Game Fest.
The Summer Game Fest will be a months-long event that will take place between this month and August. Summer Game Fest is meant to fill in the hole left by cancelled events such as E3 2020. A number of developers and publishers have announced that they participate in the events that will happen during the Summer Game Fest, including Activision Publishing, Square Enix, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Microsoft. The physical gamescom 2020 was cancelled last month. The event was cancelled due to concerns involving the current COVID-19 pandemic. gamescom was meant to take place in Cologne, Germany, and is one of the biggest gaming conventions in Europe. However, along with the announcement of the conference's cancellation, it was announced that gamescom 2020 would be held entirely online instead.

Here all of the highlights from this year's show will be summed up, and the gamescom Best of Show award will be presented.
