Sony Will Focus on the PlayStation 5's Value Rather Than Its Price Tag

It seems that Sony is looking to make sure that the value of their upcoming PlayStation 5 is right rather than its price tag.

In an interview with BBC (via Comic Book), PlayStation boss Jim Ryan stated that Sony is trying to make sure that the value of the PlayStation 5 is in the right place. Right, now, they are more concerned with that than they are with pricing.

"Conventional wisdom and history show that our business is one of the more recession-proof business," Ryan stated. "But I think this will sharpen our need to ensure that we focus on getting the value equation right. And I emphasis value as opposed to price.

"We must be more attentive than ever before to ensure that the overall value proposition in terms of the console and the games - the range of games, the quality of games, the quantity of games - makes this something that our community aspires toward."

Unfortunately, Ryan did not give a price tag for the PlayStation 5 just yet.

"You're not going to hear anything on price today. But many of our consumers are purchasing solely digitally these days. We thought that we would do what we typically try and do, and just offer choice."

The PlayStation 5 was fully revealed last week. During the reveal, it was shown that the console will be sleek, especially when seen side-by-side with Microsoft's upcoming Xbox Series X. The console does sport the same color scheme of the system's new controller, the DualSense. It was announced that there will be two version of the console: one with a disk drive, and one without. It is unknown if there will be a pricing difference between the two options. A number of accessories were also shown off, including an HD camera and a new wireless headset called the Pulse 3D.

The PlayStation 5 will release sometime this holiday season alongside the Xbox Series X.
