Over the past week, one Steam game garnered quite a bit of controversy due to its content more so than its gameplay. While it's not a AAA title, it did show a different kind of violence, which made some people uneasy.
It left enough of a bad impression that the developers had to pull the game from the digital storefront on all regions after receiving major backlash.
"No Mercy" Was Given No Mercy By Gamers For Its Focus On Sexual Violence
If you haven't heard of No Mercy, it is a 3D visual novel featuring incest and even non-consensual sex. After drumming up controversy, Valve pulled the game, and developer, Zerat Games provided a lengthy statement about the topics they chose to feature.
Zerat Games mentioned how "false information about the content in the game was very often repeated" and how people created video content and spoke about things in the game that weren't in it.
