Summer Games Done Quick is coming back soon, so that means it's time to look ahead at the newly revealed schedule. This year's show is, like most others, going totally virtual with an online event set to begin on August 16 and runs one week until August 23. Eager fans can tune in via the Twitch channel for Games Done Quick.
This year, the show will benefit Doctors Without Borders, a highly-rated charity according to charitynavigator.org. Doctors Without Borders is an international humanitarian aid organization which works to help those affected by armed conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters, and other crises around the world.
This year's schedule includes a host of favorite games for speedrunners as well as some new entries from 2020 games. The very first game of the week will be Demon's Souls played by BertoPlease, followed by a new entry for 2020, Streets of Rage 4 played by Mike Uyama.
Later in the week, a mix of retro and modern games fill out a busy seven-day schedule of gaming for good. Games like Ico, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2X on PC, and even a Jimmy Neutron game will be played online to encourage donations to Doctors Without Borders.
If you're new to the speedrunning community and don't understand some of the terms like "Any %" and "quit-outs allowed," it may benefit you to tune into the pre-show and get a feel for the avid speedrunning community. That pre-show kicks off on August 16 at 8:30 am Pacific before the first playthrough.
Games Done Quick announced back in June that this year's Summer Games Done Quick would be foregoing the in-person element of the show. Instead, it's been rebranding it as Summer Games Done Quick Online 2020.
