We now know when to expect Animal Crossing: New Horizons' next update to drop, and what it will contain.

Nintendo has announced that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons fall update will release on September 30th. The update will be free, and will include spooky touches for the season.

The new update for New Horizons will allow players to grow pumpkins. Players will be able to purchase pumpkins from either Leif or from the Nook's Cranny during the month of October. Once players have grown their pumpkins, they can be harvested and used in pumpkin-based DIY projects.

It was also revealed that New Horizons' fall update will feature Halloween festivities. When the update drops, players will be able to start stocking up on candy. Players will be able to purchase their outfits for Halloween at the Able Sisters shop during the month of October. Gamers can get body paint and colored eye contacts by exchanging Nook Miles, and will be able to learn Halloween DIY projects from their island residents. On Halloween night, residents will get into the holiday spirit by dressing in costumes of their own.

On Halloween night after 5 p.m., island residents will gather in the plaza which will be decorated for the holiday. There will also be a mysterious guest by the name of Jack, the "czar of Halloween." By giving Jack candy, players will earn spooky in-game rewards. Players need to be sure to give candy to their neighbors as well, or they might get pranked. Players will be able to learn new Reactions to express their feelings of fear.

The New Horizons fall update will also add the ability to make a list of dreams, making it easier for players to visit their favorite islands. There will also be an update for the NookLink App in early October, which will allow players to use their smart device to perform reactions in-game.

It was also revealed that another patch will come to New Horizons in late November, likely getting the game ready for the Christmas season.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
