Recent changes to Steam have led to the mass removal of adult games, as titles on the store now must comply with standards set by banks and payment processors.
Steam is a hive of scum and villainy, with Valve seemingly never interested in cleaning up shop. The digital store has games filled with all kinds of violent and repulsive content, to say nothing of the many asset flip titles and AI-generated trash that fill its pages.
It seems that Valve is being forced to step up. As reported by Automaton Media, Steamworks has updated its Rules and Guidelines section to include a line about how adult content shouldn’t be published on the store, as it may violate rules set out by payment companies used by Steam.
Adult Games Are Leaving Steam Thanks To New Rules
Following these changes, SteamDB is now listing numerous adult games that are being removed from the store, many with names DualShockers can’t post without being punished by Google for listing obscenities.
