Popular whodunit title Among Us has made its way over to the Nintendo Switch.
During a recent Indie World Showcase from Nintendo, it was announced that popular title Among Us has made its way over to the Switch. There was no word on whether or not the Switch version of the game will have any special features, though it will support cross-play with other platforms. The game will cost $5, similar to the Steam version of the game.
Last month a patch was implemented into Among Us. The patch added anonymous voting, where all votes on the voting screen come out as grey. New task bar options were also added. Meeting Mode only updates the task bar during meetings, while Invisible Mode removes the task bar all together. The Comms sabotage now clears the security logs, and symbols were added to the fix wires task. Developer Innersloth is working on accounts, which will help players report those who are toxic or are cheating. Features such as friendlists will come after accounts launch. A new map is on the way, and will be an airship featuring new options for imposters and crew members. The game is being translated into more languages, and colorblind support is being worked on.
Among Us was originally released in 2018, but saw a resurgence during the pandemic. A sequel for the game was planned by Innersloth, but was ultimately cancelled. According to the developer, the cancellation was made after they decided to support the first game instead. They stated that all of the content that would have been implemented into an Among Us sequel will be inserted into the first game instead. The team stated that this will be difficult, as the codebase for the original game is outdated, meaning that the team will have to go deep into the core code and rework several parts of it. However, the developer has said that players should keep an eye out as they have a lot of content on the way.
Among Us is available now on PC, mobile devices, and the Nintendo Switch.
