We now know who will join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate next.
During the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, the next characters coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate were revealed. The next characters coming to the fighter are Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. In the announcement (seen here), it was shown that players will be able to switch back and forth between the two characters while in battle, similar to Zelda and Sheik in older Smash Bros. titles. Each form will have their own set of moves, as well as their own Final Smashes. Pyra's Final Smash will be Burning Sword, while Mythra's will be Sacred Arrow. Both characters will be assisted by Rex when they use their Final Smashes.
Pyra and Mythra's stage was also revealed. Players will battle on the titan Azurda in their stage, with other characters from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 appearing in the background cheering on the fighting. It can be assumed that Pyra and Mythra will come with their own set of songs, just like all other DLC fighters before them. The two fighters were not given a release date during the presentation, though players can expect them to drop soon.
Pyra and Mythra are the fourth character pack to be released in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighters Pass Vol. 2. They follow Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, Steve from Minecraft, and Min Min from Arms. Gamers can purchase the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 for $30, or can buy the characters on their own when they release. It has been announced before that all of the fighters that will be contained within the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 will be released by December 31st, 2021. There is no word if there will be a third Fighters Pass after the second one comes to a close.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
