Don’t Worry, Nintendo Has No Plans To Increase The Switch 2 Price, Despite Component Prices Rising

Gaming is getting more and more expensive. In August, Sony announced that it would be raising the prices of the PS5 in the United States, mirroring increases in Europe that occurred a few months prior. Microsoft has also frustrated consumers with massive price increases for both its struggling Xbox consoles and its Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.

Despite only releasing in June, given the trends set by the two other major console manufacturers, there was some concern that Nintendo could follow suit with the Nintendo Switch 2. Thankfully, those concerns have been assuaged, at least for now, as Nintendo's president, Shuntaro Furukawa, has moved to assure players that there are no impending price increases.

During a recent investor Q&A, Nintendo President Furukawa was questioned about whether rising component prices were affecting the profitability of the Nintendo Switch 2. The question was a roundabout way of asking if Nintendo planned to increase prices. Furukawa's answer was clear.

"We believe we will be able to maintain the current level of hardware profitability for the time being," he said. "While we are aware that the prices of various components are rising, we can expect to see some cost reductions for the Switch 2...
