Knockout City is the next EA Originals project, putting players in a colorful dodgeball-inspired multiplayer sports-shooter hybrid. Here's when to expect Knockout City reviews to appear online.
The review embargo for Knockout City lifts on Friday, May 21 at 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET. At that time, the world's first reviews on Velan Studios' "dodgebrawl" game will begin to appear on OpenCritic. We expect a few dozen reviews out of the gate, with more to come as players get more time with this multiplayer-only sports/shooter hybrid.
In Knockout City, players take to the rooftops of a retro-futuristic city that paints 1950s Americana with cyberpunkish affectations like glowing letterman jackets and neon poodle skirts. Players jump into rounds on teams or in free-for-all modes where different kinds of dodgeballs are there for the taking - and scoring. While the game isn't the most traditional representation of the timeless gym class activity, it may be the best positioned to succeed.
That's because in addition to being backed by EA, one of the world's biggest publishers, it will also launch directly into EA Play and Game Pass Ultimate on May 21. Like Outriders and MLB The Show 21 before it, Knockout City has the potential to be a major third-party hit on Game Pass, which will only increase the likelihood of more games going that route, no doubt.
Knockout City will otherwise debut for $20 with seasonal content and a cosmetics shop in place to keep players engaged for the longhaul. Come back on May 18 to join us on OpenCritic as we sort through thousands of words on the next EA Originals launch.
