Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Creators Say Latest Beta Test “Exceeded All Expectations”

It's a well-known fact that Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to launch with a multiplayer component. Much like Grand Theft Auto 5, the plan was for the base game to release, with the multiplayer modes to follow. Unfortunately, Cyberpunk's rocky launch meant that any multiplayer ambitions were abandoned as CD Projekt Red focused its efforts on fixing the game.

The prospect of a multiplayer Cyberpunk 2077 was exciting for fans, and it was gut-wrenching when it was canceled, so much so that a group of budding players is aiming to bring it to life themselves. In the works for over a year, CyberMP is aiming to give players what CD Projekt couldn't, and it could be closer than ever.

In a new post in the project's official Discord server, the team shared that a recent beta "exceeded all expectations," becoming "one of the most successful in the project's history."

CyberMP just underwent its sixth closed beta. The beta focused on the synchronization of vehicles and players, a new overlay, PvP and racing game modes, and the overall resilience and stability of the platform, among other things. It seems like it was a rousing success.
