Some People Are Already Comparing Highguard To Concord

Not too many people were happy with The Game Awards 2025 according to Geoff Keighley's own poll. Maybe it was because The Elder Scrolls 6 or Half-Life 3 were missing, or because Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won everything. I'll bet the main reason people were unhappy was because of the event's underwhelming final reveal.

Geoff Keighley stood in front of an image of mountains that looked like the TES 6 reveal, mentioned Titanfall 2, and then went on to reveal a PvP multiplayer shooter called Highguard. While the game itself looked okay at best, making it the final world premiere of the night definitely annoyed fans, who removed their frustration on it. It's already being called the next Concord.

There's still over a month for Highguard to launch, and many people are already dunking on it. It hasn't been an easy few years for multiplayer games, with many shutting down in a short amount of time. Concord was arguably the most high-profile one of these, thanks to PlayStation's big investment into it. The name has now become a descriptor for games that players think will fail, like Highguard.
