Hollow Knight: Silksong developer and publisher Team Cherry has revealed that a free expansion for the Metroidvania platformer is on the way next year, and the original game will be getting some love, too.
In a blog post on the official Team Cherry website, the studio first reveals that over seven million players have purchased Silksong since it was released in September. That's particularly impressive given that the game was also released on Game Pass, where Team Cherry says "millions more" have played it, on day one.
The first big expansion for Silksong will be called Sea of Sorrow, and Team Cherry says it'll bring "new areas, bosses, tools, and more", so it'll be more than just a free update. It'll also have a "nautical" theme, although Team Cherry is keeping its cards close to its chest regarding additional details for now.
As well as the aforementioned Silksong expansion, Team Cherry has also confirmed that it's working on a native Switch 2 Edition version of the original Hollow Knight, which will bring "high frame-rate modes, higher resolutions, and many additional graphical effects" to the celebrated 2017 Metroidvania platformer.
The Switch 2 Edition version will be free when it launches...
