Last week, Fortnite announced a collab with the immensely popular wizarding series Harry Potter, but like most big crossovers that fall into the lap of this IP sandbox of unending action figures, it was leaked. That might be par for the course when it comes to Epic Games' unprecedented moneymaker, but insider Fortnite Underground claims to have had more noble intentions for 'spoiling' the announcement, this time.
"Last year, Harry Potter creator JK Rowling claimed that Imane Khelif, a female boxer, was actually born as a man," they explained. "There's just one issue: they weren't. There's been a sentiment around this collaboration that goes something like 'you can separate the art from the artist,' but that is a significantly harder ask when the artist is using their royalties to fund lawsuits and legislation that intentionally damage the quality of life of transgender people around the world."
Scottish Daily Express reported in 2024 that Rowling donated £70,000 to the anti-trans group For Women Scotland after it tried and failed to challenge the 2018 law that legally recognises trans women as women.
