Legendary Dungeons & Dragons Designer Passionately Defends Larian Following AI Controversy

It's been a tough couple of days for Larian Studios' public relations team, which has had to deal with backlash sparked by comments about the studio's limited use of generative artificial intelligence during development.

Larian plans to host an ask-me-anything on Reddit in the new year to clarify some of the statements made regarding AI use at the studio. In the meantime, the negativity has continued to flow on social media.

The response has been so vitriolic that Robert Kuntz—one of the original designers on Dungeons & Dragons and a legend of the tabletop RPG scene—stepped in to defend Larian from the barrage of hatred being directed at the studio (nice spot, GamesRadar+).

"Fans of Larian, maybe lighten up on the creatives who work their arses off day in and day out," Kuntz writes. "Just a suggestion. It's sort of disappointing to see [Swen Vincke] treated like some sort of outsider. I extend my personal well wishes to the studio for their continued success."
