Twitch Streamer and drag queen Annie Krevice announced on X last night that she is pulling out from the Fortnite Creator program over the controversial Harry Potter collab.
"I've had my code officially disabled as I do not want to endorse or associate with a game that uses IP from Harry Potter," she explained. "Any Harry Potter IP proceeds directly fund harming trans people such as myself. Please don't buy it."
For context, series creator JK Rowling formed an organisation earlier this year that offers legal funding to cases over "women's sex-based rights," which as Them explained, is a "euphemism for the anti-trans advocacy she has devoted herself" to. Last year, Rowling also donated £70,000 (around $88,000) to anti-trans group For Women Scotland, which formed specifically to challenge Scotland's Gender Recognition Act and the definition of a woman.
Rowling tweeted just two days ago, "Merry Terfmas everyone".
Rowling's wealth stems from the enormous success of the Harry Potter series, which she continues to profit from, so collaborations like these, and indeed any sales relating to the franchise, help fund her campaigns and organisation. As one commenter argued, "There is no way to ethically participate in this fandom"....
