Todd Howard just made a surprise cameo in Any Austin's newest video to reveal the biggest Elder Scrolls 6 news we've had in seven years - it will have more trees than Skyrim.

Yeah, okay, it's not a lot to go off, but fans are so desperate that this tiny hint has sent them spiralling down a speculation rabbit hole, trying to sus out what region the game will take place, even analysing the way Todd Howard answered the question to find out.

The common assumption for years now has been that we're going to Hammerfell, especially after the little candle tease, but this new hint has thrown the community for a loop. Some think the emphasis on trees means that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be set in Valenwood, which is known for its dense thickets of woodland, while others believe Howard's comment actually rules out Hammerfell, noting that the Redguard homeland is mostly desert. Then there are those who are still all aboard the High Rock train.

Don't be so quick to rule out Hammerfell, though. As u/EvilRat23 noted, "Todd Hesitates at first to answer. If TES6 was in Valenwood, you would think he would quickly answer yes....
