There were many reasons why Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 cleaned up at The Golden Joysticks, The Game Awards, my personal Game of the Year list, and likely every single award show between now and next December. Its immaculate character design, excellent acting, stunning narrative, and attention to detail have all been cited as reasons why Sandfall Interactive's RPG is generational, even if controversy has been brewing around it over the last few days.

It's one of those rare games in which the lore runs so deep that discoveries are likely to continue to be made long after its release. To prove that point, six months on, one player has discovered that the cape of one of Expedition 33's bosses is actually made from failed expedition flags.
