Dispatch has been the latest release in a run of surprise hits in 2025, with a cast of characters many of us have already fallen in love with. Turns out one of those characters was originally supposed to die - and stay dead - in season one, but the team behind the hit superhero game changed their minds.

Speaking with Eurogamer about all things Dispatch and how the project came together, the team at AdHoc revealed Chase, one of the game's lead characters played by Jeffrey Wright, was going to die. In the first draft of the script, Chase was going to die at the end of the season. That was until AdHoc co-founder Pierre Shorette questioned why they were killing him off.
"I liked him. Why the f**k would we kill a character we like? It was so hard to get people to like him. Why would we throw that away?" Shorette said.
