2026 isn't even two weeks old, and while we wait for the first Game of the Year contenders to start arriving, we already appear to have a contender for worst game of the year. Code Violet launched last week to the opposite of rave reviews, its dismal scores earning it the unwanted accolade of being the worst-reviewed PS5 exclusive so far.

Code Violet currently has a score of 40 on Metacritic, and you don't need me to tell you that's not very good. Just how bad is it, though? Well, it's bad enough that, after five years of exclusives, Code Violet being the latest of many, TeamKill Media's early 2026 offering is currently the lowest-scoring PS5 exclusive in the platform's history.

It's lucky it isn't the worst game available on the latest PlayStation full stop, and it has four titles to thank for that. Flashback 2, eFootball, The Lord of the Rings - Gollum, and last year's biggest flop, and the worst-rated game on PS5, exclusive or otherwise, MindsEye. As bad as people are claiming Code Violet is, it speaks volumes about how much everyone hated MindsEye that TeamKill's new game has a full 12 points...
