Meta Studio Shutdowns Reportedly Hit Sanzaru Games, Twisted Pixel | TechRaptor

It looks as though Deadpool VR studio Twisted Pixel and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time outfit Sanzaru Games have been shut down by their parent company Meta as part of a wider employee and studio cull.

Speaking on social media platform X, Twisted Pixel designer Andy Gentile announced earlier today that he had been laid off, and that it "appears the entire Twisted Pixel studio has been shut down" alongside Sanzaru.

Gentile's report of Sanzaru's shutdown was corroborated by senior level designer Ray West on LinkedIn (as spotted by VGC), who said that "several game studios", including Sanzaru, have been shut down by Meta today.

Twisted Pixel and Sanzaru's shutdown are likely part of plans Meta apparently has to cut roughly 10% of the employees in its Reality Labs business, which works primarily on VR and AR content, as reported by the New York Times.

That would include both studios; Twisted Pixel's last game was Marvel's Deadpool VR, released last year, while Sanzaru's most recent titles are both in the Asgard's Wrath series, which was created for VR headsets.
