Deadpool has to be the most anticipated hero in Marvel Rivals history, as he's caused the game's player count to spike higher than it's been since last April.
Unless you've been living under a Marvel-resistant rock for the past few weeks, you're no doubt aware that Deadpool finally joined Marvel Rivals yesterday. As one of the brand's most popular characters over the past decade or so, it's no surprise that the Merc with a Mouth's arrival is being met with a ton of attention.
Marvel Rivals players have been spending the last few days wrapping their heads around Deadpool's bizarre moveset, meme-y voice lines, and seemingly endless number of references, but now that he's actually in the game, it's clear it wasn't just empty excitement. After months of a decent but not groundbreaking playerbase, Deadpool has managed to almost double it overnight.
As pointed out by Twitter user CultureCrave, Deadpool's arrival in Marvel Rivals yesterday did the game's player count a massive favour and gave it the biggest peak it's seen in almost a whole year. SteamDB shows that Marvel Rivals had more than 200,000 concurrent players for Deadpool's launch, peaking at 200,027.
