Stellar Blade was always going to get a sequel. The action title, popular for many reasons, sold exceptionally well on PlayStation, broke records on Steam, and has built a rabid audience since its release.

In May 2025, its creator, Shift Up, confirmed in its financial reports that work had begun on a follow-up title, and the following month, its director said he recognized that "the story is weak," and wanted to present a "sufficiently rich narrative" in any sequel.

Outside of interviews, it's likely that any official news on Stellar Blade 2 is still some way away, given the original is only around 18 months old. On Twitter, the official Stellar Blade Twitter account tweeted, "Just finished a location scout for our next title. It’s confidential. #StellarBlade #TheWorldChanges" with some concept art of ravaged, overgrown high-rise buildings. Soon after, it pinned the post.

Shift Up followed the original tweet by saying, "Oops, a little slip-up", with a photograph of the area the concept art is based on, looking decidedly more alive....
