Well, that didn't take long.
On Monday, Marathon received its long-awaited release date, revealed its Deluxe and Collector's Editions and opened up pre-orders, and within hours, the live-service extraction shooter from Bungie jumped into the Top 10 best-selling games on Steam, sitting at No. 5 at the time of writing.
Marathon also revealed its extremely stacked cast of VAs who will help bring the narrative to life. That list includes juggernauts Ben Starr, Jennifer English and Neil Newbon, among others.
The list, which is organized by revenue, has Marathon ahead of other live-service offerings, including Warframe and Where Winds Meet. It is, however, being led by three juggernauts, including arguably its stiffest competition in the extraction shooter genre in Arc Raiders.
At $39.99 for its base edition, the same price as Arc Raiders, Helldivers 2 and other pay-for-play multiplayer shooters, Marathon probably won't have a hard time selling copies off pure interest alone. Still, that a few hours was all it took to jump the list is pretty remarkable.
