The Game Awards last year had plenty of big reveals, but one of the biggest was arguably Divinity, the next game from Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian Studios. Its reveal caused a bit of a stir, not only because it was teased with a big statue in the desert beforehand, but because the trailer itself was so raunchy and grim that some thought Larian had taken things too far.
Every publisher on the planet would kill for that kind of publicity. We've seen countless times that big reveals and sequel releases usually cause many people to go and check out the rest of a developer's work, as was seen with the likes of Lego Batman, Death Stranding, and Dragon Age: Origins. Larian's previous games were no exception, as both Baldur's Gate 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2 have both seen pretty massive player boosts ever since Divinity's announcement.
Of course, player boosts usually mean increased sales too, though they don't really paint the full picture, as many of these players could be returners just replaying the game for the fifteenth time.
