Nintendo loves doing random things without warning, and dropping a Switch 2 update for Donkey Kong Country Returns HD out of the blue fits that description. The remastered Switch game looks better, now has Dixie Kong, and best of all, a problem that has plagued the game since the launch of its Nintendo 3DS port appears to have been fixed.
Donkey Kong Country Returns was originally released on the Nintendo Wii, and it was pretty great. Good enough that it has now effectively been ported to three newer Nintendo consoles. However, its first port, which brought the game to the 3DS, essentially broke the game's multiplayer.
When playing DKC Returns HD with a second player, one of you would fall through the second enemy if you tried to chain jump. That meant no jumping between enemies without touching the ground first, which, in some cases, made the game unplayable as you would need to chain jump between enemies to make it to the next platform.
Annoying that it was a problem in the first place, even more annoying that it was never fixed on 3DS, and downright infuriating that, somehow, the problem persisted in the Switch remaster. Well,...
