An Anthem Fan Has Already Got The Game Back Online Just Days After It Was Shut Down

If you've been living under a rock this past couple of weeks, here's some bad news for you — Anthem is finally dead. Earlier this month, EA finally pulled the plug on BioWare's troubled live-service shooter, and since its sole function is an online-only game, it means Anthem is no longer officially playable in any kind of capacity.

Of course, just like with any big game that goes offline and is rendered unplayable, there is a group of talented video game preservationists behind the scenes trying to ensure that no game becomes lost media. Something similar happened with Ubisoft's The Crew, which was steadily brought back online by fans after the game's servers were shut down last year.

Just like with The Crew, a group of fans have been working to save Anthem from the dregs of obscurity, and one YouTuber called And799 has already made some decent progress. First reported by Kotaku, this YouTube user has managed to get Anthem completely playable on their own private server, just a few days after the game was shut down.

BioWare's looter shooter was doomed to fail, but it still deserved so much better.
