Ubisoft dropped quite the bombshell on Wednesday, revealing multiple projects have been canceled, most notably the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake many of us assumed was about to shadow drop. Thankfully, its Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake appears to have survived, for now, but its potential release date is no longer imminent.
That's according to Insider Gaming, which has shared additional information about the Black Flag remake in the wake of Ubisoft's restructuring. IG's Tom Henderson has been told that the remake was basically complete and due to go gold in the first week of February. A March 19, 2026, digital-only release would have followed, but that is no longer the case.
Despite the remake seemingly being so close to completion, the belief now is that it won't be released for up to another year. Although not specifically mentioned by Ubisoft during Wednesday's announcement, there's a note pointing to an unannounced title that was supposed to be released before the end of the current financial year. That unannounced game has now been pushed to FY2027, which means it has potentially been delayed by more than a year.
So, you're telling me there's a chance?
That...
