The long-awaited revival of Fable has finally seen the light of day, courtesy of Thursday's Xbox Developer Direct. Playground Games pulled back the curtain to showcase the first Fable title since 2010, including customizable characters, as well as its open world nature. Oh, and the game is releasing in 2026, specifically this Fall, with a day-and-date drop on PlayStation 5.
In the wake of Fable's grand reveal, a lot more has come out about the game, including whether this latest entry will see the return of the fan-favorite dog companions. The short answer is: No.
As part of an interview with IGN, Playground Games founder and general manager Ralph Fulton revealed the rationale behind ditching the dog, and it's understandable, even if its upsetting.
