Hytale Forced To “Take The L” After Generic Username Was Taken From A Paying Player And Gifted To YouTuber

Hypixel Studios has just had to maneuver Hytale's first potential major controversy, and it has done so with relative aplomb, admitting it would "take the L" and resolve the issue.

It came in the wake of backlash on social media, as players became aware that some of their fellow paying comrades had their usernames unceremoniously pinched from them and handed over to YouTubers who complained they needed them for brand recognition.

Over the past few hours, the Hytale subreddit has been awash with players angry that a YouTuber, whose channel name is The Horizon, was able to badger Hytale support into changing their in-game username from the_horizon (which matches their YouTube channel) to simply "Horizon". It set a dangerous precedent, as "Horizon" already belonged to a paying player, and suggested that anyone with a moderately sized audience could, at some point, take usernames from other players.

The Hytale subreddit was inundated with almost a dozen threads about the situation, with many garnering thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments, almost entirely from unhappy players.
