Ubisoft has been in a bit of a state lately, thanks to several game cancellations, even more games getting delayed, and a complete restructuring of how the entire business operates. It's a massive time of change for everyone involved, which includes a lot of anger and protest, so it's understandable that the future of certain Ubisoft projects currently in development would be up in the air.
For example, we've still not heard anything significant about Beyond Good & Evil 2, despite the title being re-revealed in 2017, and then shown off once again in 2018. Ever since then, we've heard minor updates about what's been going on behind the scenes, such as staff changes and assurances that the game isn't dead, with the last update being the search for a lead quest designer.
It's been in development for at least nine years, more likely more, and any game that's been in 'Development Hell' for that long is at risk of being scrapped entirely. Thankfully, there were rumors that Beyond Good & Evil 2 may have survived the Ubisoft purge, and it has now been confirmed by the game's creative director Fawzi Mesmar in a very rare official update.
