Heads-up, Pokemon fam. February 27 is Pokemon Day, because February 27, 1995, saw the Japanese launch of the very first games in what has become one of the world's leading franchises. As such, it's always a special day, and frequently marks the occasion with a livestream advertising event—a Nintendo Direct with a very direct purpose, if you will—in which fans are welcome to either be pleasantly surprised, or complain on the internet that Pokemon is officially dead.
Thanks to an apparent leak, we now know that February 27, 2026, will... continue the trend. Pokemon Presents, which is the name of this particular series of gaming-related unveilings, will indeed spring up right at the tail end of the month. Given this is Pokemon's 30th anniversary, folks are expecting something of a blowout, and while I always caution people not to put too much weight on anniversaries, it's goshdarned likely as heck that the Switch 2 is getting its first mainline games this year. So, yeah. Maybe put weight on it this time.
