Apex Legends Is Pulling The Plug On Nintendo Switch 1 Support In 2026

Half a decade ago, EA's hot live-service phenomenon Apex Legends made the jump to Nintendo Switch. Later this year, it's finding its off-ramp. Support for Apex Legends will cease following the completion of Season 29, meaning Switch-only players will need to hop over to other hardware. Like, say, the Nintendo Switch 2.

It's not the most surprising news—Apex is hardly a top-tier graphics hog of a game, but it's always improving, and the content pool just gets wider and wider. The Switch is, well, probably not got a ton of Apex Legends players, anyway.

In a social media post, Respawn Entertainment has announced the news: Season 29 is it for Switch, and from August 4, 2026, onward, the game will no longer be playable in any capacity. Given Apex Legends is a completely online game, that... tracks, yeah. August 4 is the launch date for Season 30, so if you're really into shooting on Switch, make the most of Season 29, I suppose.
