Over the past couple of years, it's been no secret that Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone has been grappling with the prospect of moving on from the title to start focusing on his next project, Haunted Chocolatier. He's regularly committed himself to the title, only to announce another big Stardew Valley update just months later, and to be honest, you can't really blame him.
Stardew Valley is still such a massively popular game, and Barone has dedicated over a decade of his life to the title, so moving on would be difficult for anyone. He said as much in a new interview with IGN, talking about his plans for the future of Stardew Valley, and whether he's ever envisioned an end to updates and moving on.
"Just to be realistic at this point, there's been many times where I was like, "All right, I think it's going to be done after this update." And then that never happens. So I think just realistically, it might not ever be done," says Barone. However, one of his biggest worries is spending too much time on Stardew Valley and ignoring Haunted Chocolatier so much that the game will take a very long time....
