Take-Two Addresses Claims GTA 6 Won’t Have A Physical Version At Launch

Rumors swirled last week suggesting Rockstar might opt to push back the physical launch of GTA 6 in an attempt to avoid any copies making it out into the wild ahead of its November 2026 launch. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has thrown cold water on those rumors, claiming that is currently not the plan.

The Take-Two boss spoke with Variety this week following the publication of the publisher's latest financial report. Zelnick was asked if there was any truth to the claims that GTA 6's physical edition might not be released at the same time as its digital version, potentially even missing 2026 altogether and launching in early 2027. That would mean no copies of the game in store stockrooms that might find their way into people's homes and onto their consoles before November 19.

"That’s not the plan," Zelnick confirmed, which is short and to the point, but also ever-so-slightly ambiguous. Confirmation that a delayed physical release is not the plan, but also opening the door for plans to change.
