Helldivers 2 just got a big new update that includes all sorts of tweaks, buffs, and best of all, a brand new warbond. All of that has resulted in players flocking back to Arrowhead's live service hit, as the game just broke the 100,000 concurrent player mark on Steam for the first time since September.
Helldivers 2 typically has a resting concurrent playercount that falls somewhere between 30,000 and 50,000 at any given time, according to SteamDB. That's a CCU developers of most ongoing games would give their right hand for, particularly after almost two years. However, thanks to the Siegebrakers Warbond update getting the greenlight on Tuesday, the game that started life as a PlayStation exclusive has seen its player count break the 100,000 mark yet again.
The game's player count spiked on Steam at around 8 am on Tuesday morning and then remained at just north of 100,000 players for more than 12 hours. Evidence that not only were people flocking back to the game to check out the new content, but the new content is engaging enough that it's keeping them there, and I'm assuming tempting them to return after refueling and getting some sleep.
Everyone dying...
