Someone Swapped Leon And Ashley Around In Resident Evil 4, And It's Kickstarted The Debate About Needlessly Gendered Animations Again

Years ago, back in ye olden days of the 2010s, a clip from Batman: Arkham Knight with the models for Batman and Catwoman swapped around. This turned Catwoman into a brooding stoic, all while our caped crusader was swishing his hips all over the place and pushing his chest forward to make the most of his assets.

That is to say, Batman looked pretty silly, while Catwoman did not. It sparked a conversation about gendered animations, with many arguing that female characters in games are sexualised through their animations in ways that men never are. Male animations focus on their strength, something that couldn't really be said for many female characters.

It's unclear when Capcom will finally reveal the full Resident Evil Requiem cast.

Now, it's happening again, as someone did the exact same thing with Leon and Ashley in Resident Evil 4 Remake. The results have reignited the debate, with many wondering if the differences in their animations are too pronounced.

Much like the Batman example, people were quick to point out that Ashley actually doesn't look too out of place with Leon's animations. On the other hand, Leon looks completely ridiculous.
