Oblivion Remastered Is Coming To Switch 2, But 'Remastered' Might Be A Little Generous

It was mind-blowing when the original Switch was unveiled and we saw Skyrim running on a handheld for the first time. Typically, 'ports' of triple-A games that ambitious would get slimmed-down, inferior versions, like Call of Duty, which birthed its own bizarre Zombies mode on DS.

Oblivion Remastered is no Skyrim; Todd Howard showed up at the Nintendo Partner Direct today, eager to show off the remaster in all its Unreal Engine 5 glory — now running on handheld — and, well, it's giving The Outer Worlds flashbacks. Check it out for yourself.

In fairness, it still looks better than the original Oblivion (especially the infamous PS3 port), but it's clear Bethesda had to cut a lot of corners to get it running on Nintendo's less-powerful hardware. This might be one for the handheld, rather than docked mode. ​​​​​​​

Bethesda also announced Fallout 4 for Switch 2, and it somehow looks worse than it did ten years ago.

Oblivion Remastered took the world by storm last year when it was shadowdropped in April, but it's still rife with performance issues and bugs on PC all these months later, so hopefully the Switch 2 port fares better. If nothing...
