Overwatch is back. After struggling to remain relevant in a post-Marvel Rivals world, Blizzard dropped a huge reboot, adding some story content, a big event, and five new heroes to breathe some new life into the hero shooter.
Now, the success of this update could influence the content we get in the future - or more specifically, the success of Jetpack Cat. Yes, even though the cat gets banned from every competitive game for apparently being OP (he's not!), Overwatch director Alec Dawson is pleased with the reception to the character, and hints that we could see more "oddball heroes" join the roster going forward.
As spotted by Overwatch Cavalry, Dawson made these comments in a conversation with the streamer Deemzies. Here, Dawson was asked if finally getting Jetpack Cat on the roster increases the chances of other heroes with unique designs being playable, like Mama Hong.
"People love Jetpack Cat," Dawson laughs, before addressing the question about Mama Hong. "They're definitely not the same type of hero, but the response to the oddball [...] we hear it, it's loud, and it's been amazing"
