Resident Evil Requiem Has Multiple Endings, But It's Pretty Clear Which One Is Canon

If you've been online over the last couple of weeks, you'll no doubt have run into some Resident Evil Requiem spoilers, or at least know a couple of the basic details.

One such detail to leak online, thanks to early copies (which may have been obtained illegally, as per Capcom), is that there are multiple endings. But after playing it for ourselves, we can confidently say that only one is canon.

Since the game just came out, we won't divulge spoilers and talk about what actually happens in the endings, i.e. the plot, but if you want to go into Requiem completely blind, now is the time to click off. Otherwise, we'll be delving into how you get these endings, and some broad stroke differences between them.

Getting each ending is easy: it doesn't matter what you do earlier in the game whatsoever. Rather, ahead of the final boss fight, you're prompted with a clear-cut choice on a terminal — release or destroy Elpis.

Destroying Elpis is very clearly the bad ending (again, I won't spoil why), and there's no final boss; instead, a brief cutscene plays before the game abruptly comes to a close. From the scoring page, you're...
