There's a new PvE pirate game in town, and it's causing quite a stir. Well, technically, Windrose hasn't even been released yet. It's just a demo that people have been taking for a spin as part of Steam Next Fest. However, even though it isn't the full experience, those who have given Windrose a chance are so enamored with it that it's putting up some impressive numbers.
The Windrose demo was officially released on Steam and attracted more than 6,000 players right out of the gate, according to SteamDB. Not too shabby for an indie demo, and even more impressive when you consider the sheer amount of stuff Steam users have to choose from via the onslaught of Next Fest demos available.
Windrose didn't stop at 6,000, though. Word of the pirate game's prowess has continued to spread and, on Sunday, it topped out at a very respectable 22,396 players. Again, while that isolated figure might not sound like much when compared to the numbers Arc Raiders and Overwatch are pulling in right now, it's all about perspective, and in the grand scheme of things, Windrose is carving out a space for itself in a genre where players aren't easy...
