FF7 Remake Trilogy Director Says The Recent Switch 2 And Xbox Series X|S Ports Are Both Having "Very Strong Launches"

Pray forgive me for my earlier comments about how the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the recently-ported Final Fantasy 7 Remake has doubtless been the primary point through all this talk of strong sales. I was, perhaps, somewhat unfair toward the Xbox Series X|S port by comparison. Both launched simultaneously, and while I'd still reckon the former did far better than the latter, it sounds like Square Enix is pleased as punch over both performances.

That's the latest from the ever-chatty Naoki Hamaguchi, the Remake trilogy's co-director. He also dives into why his team has made the decision not to hop from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 for the upcoming final installment, and I've got to say, I'm glad for it.

Automaton caught up with Hamaguchi-san, who somehow finds time for all these media interviews despite successfully spearheading a modern AAA trilogy which has, all things considered, been delivering launches at an appreciably solid pace.
