Resident Evil Requiem has already broken Steam player count records for its entire franchise, despite only being a few hours old at time of writing.
A quick look at the franchise's SteamDB figures shows that Resident Evil Requiem has already achieved a peak player count of 319,392, and since we haven't technically reached the weekend yet, I wouldn't be surprised if that number grows between now and Sunday evening.
Requiem's peak Steam player count easily dwarfs the series' next most popular installment, namely the Resident Evil 4 remake, which achieved a peak player count of 168,191 upon its release. Requiem hasn't doubled that quite yet, but I'd be surprised if it didn't cross that line.
Just in case you're curious, the next most popular Resident Evil installments (according to SteamDB) are Village, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3, and the latter two fell short of breaking 100,000 peak players by quite some distance.
It's worth noting that this figure isn't the same as sales, although based on Requiem's staggering popularity, it's likely that Capcom is about to announce a pretty impressive sales figure for the game in its first few days.
