A Bloodborne Remake Was Reportedly Pitched By Bluepoint, But It Wasn't Sony Who Turned It Down

In the wake of Sony's unexpected and shocking closure of Bluepoint Games, just five years after purchasing the studio, one of the main prevailing thoughts was — Why was Bluepoint working on everything but a remake of Bloodborne? — a seemingly surefire hit for a studio in need of one.

As it turns out, Bluepoint did in fact pitch Sony on remaking the FromSoftware title. However, it was turned down, and it wasn't Sony who rejected the pitch.

Bluepoint Games has been shuttered by Sony after it acquired the studio several years ago.

In a new wide-ranging report from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, it was revealed that the now defunct studio did unsuccessfuly try and get a remake of Bloodborne off the ground in early 2025. The idea, according to Schreier, had been considered before and was even expected, but never ultimately went into production.

Bluepoint's second pitch similarly went nowhere in the end.

"The studio was told that the numbers made sense but FromSoftware didn’t want it to happen, according to people familiar with the process," Schreier wrote.
