Marathon isn't even out yet, and it has already seen a few ups and downs. From getting compared to Concord and going through the wringer for including plagiarized artwork, to eating into Arc Raiders' player base and making a mark on the first day of its server slam, it's been through a lot.
The server slam started yesterday, and has seen a peak concurrent player count of 143,621, according to SteamDB. While that's not even close to Arc Raiders' level, the numbers will probably get a further boost as the weekend rolls in. It's safe to say that there's clearly an interest in the game, and it's not the next Concord.
The server slam is on until March 5, so there's plenty of time for those numbers to go even higher. Arc Raiders hit its peak for 481,966 three months ago, and its server slam reached almost 200,000 concurrent users. While Marathon has a long way to go, we'll only get a proper idea of the numbers once the game launches.
