If you've been playing Pokemon since the Game Boy days, you'll know that one of the biggest rites of passage, aside from getting your lunch money taken by the Elite Four, is to name your Trainer, Rival or any of your Pokemon something decidedly NSFW.
After all, this is your journey, and if you want your Rival to be named Dick, then so be it.

That said, if you're experiencing Pokemon FireRed or LeafGreen for the first time via the recently-released standalone Nintendo Switch ports, or diving back into some childhood nostalgia, then it's important to note that no such NSFW shenanigans will be tolerated on these versions of the game.

As first spotted by Polygon and Kotaku, the NSFW shenanigans that made up most of our childhood experiences are not permitted in these emulated versions of the classic Pokemon titles.
If you try and make your name something NSFW, then the game will simply override with a generic name, asking you if you'd like to proceed. Normally, that NSFW name would show up and you'd go about your journey.
